The Fresno Metropolitan Museum of Art and Science was established in 1984 and is one of the most important Fresno museums because it was the dream of the people of the city. This museum is home to many interactive exhibits which provide the hands-on learning experience and help people of all age groups to realize their dreams. Some of the noteworthy attractions of this museum are a life-size exhibit of a dinosaur, paintings and sculptures of mythological characters as well as a huge playground for children.

The Forestiere Underground Gardens were established by a Sicilian immigrant in 1879 and rank as one of the most exceptional Fresno museums because it features citrus fruits and trees among the other varieties of flora. This underground oasis took 40 years to build and once a visitor enters the garden the feeling of being underground completely disappears. 

The Fresno Art Museum is one of the Fresno museums which are dedicated to the cause of the local artists by displaying their artworks on the walls of the museum. This non-profit organization has a number of temporary as well as permanent displays related to art and is also actively involved in a variety of community programs.

The African American Museum is the only one of its kind among all the Fresno museums and Fresno Attractions, was established by Jack A Kelly who held the honor of being the first African American to join the Fresno Police Department. This museum highlights the history, customs, traditions as well as the contribution made by the African American people living in the San Joaquin Valley towards the society and the country.

The Kearney Mansion Museum was built by Theo Kearney in the twentieth century and is one of the Fresno museums which provide an insight into the luxurious life of the wealthy people living in California during that time. This French Renaissance style building is lined with French wallpapers and molding, consists of French furnishings and is surrounded by spacious landscaped gardens.

The Meux Home Museum is one of the Fresno museums which have historical and architectural significance and is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This magnificent Victorian mansion is one of the landmark residences of the city and features authentic furnishings of that era within its walls.

The Veterans Memorial Museum Inc. is home to the Legion of Valor Museum and is the only one among the Fresno museums to honor the members of the Legion of Honor as well as their wives. This museum features a number of citations, photographs and exhibits won by the various soldiers, sailors and airmen during many of the American wars for their deeds of courage.  

The Fresno Historical Society is counted among the Fresno museums because it attempts to provide an insight into the history of the city through many exhibits and documents and in addition also strives to preserve its cultural heritage. 

The Discovery Center is one of the popular Fresno museums and is dedicated to nature, science, history as well as the world at large through the various exhibits, activities and events meant for children as well as adults.
